Backing-up, Storing, and Preserving Your Research Files Online
During the life of a research project, you generate a lot of files, but how much thought do you give to their storage and preservation? How often should you backup your materials what steps do you need to take to preserve your data so that it remains accessible in the long-term? In this workshop you will learn how to create a systematic storage process to secure your data against a wide range of loss scenarios.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the range of threats to storage stability in the digital environments you are using for your research outputs
- Learn how to weigh the pros and cons of different approaches to research content storage
- Gain familiarity with storage fundamentals, including the current and emerging storage options for digital research outputs
