Art, Healing and Friendship: Remembering Dr. Arthur I. Jacknowitz In-Person
WVU Art in the Libraries, in collaboration with the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center and the William A. Neal Museum of the Health Sciences, will open a new exhibit celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Arthur I. Jacknowitz, a beloved WVU School of Pharmacy professor known for championing the arts as an essential part of health and wellness.
The exhibit features life-sized reproductions of original paintings by Dr. John Mauger, former WVU School of Pharmacy faculty member, and his son, Jeffrey Mauger, artists and family friends of Dr. Jacknowitz, printed with permission and framed by Appalachian Gallery with WVU Art in the Libraries. Two original Mauger works will also be displayed, along with Jacknowitz memorabilia and WVU School of Pharmacy history.
An artists’ reception and unveiling will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Jacknowitz Art Wall in the Pylons Commons at Health Sciences. Art, Healing and Friendship: Remembering Dr. Arthur I. Jacknowitz will be on view from August 2025 through May 2026.
