The Significance of Place in Human Life

The Significance of Place in Human Life In-Person

This is an interdisciplinary panel planned to discuss the concept of place as is comes up in our work and lives. What makes a mere space or location a place with meaning? Why do places mean so much to us?

The Humanities Center invites faculty, staff, students and community to join the conversation at 4 p.m. on April 28 in Hodges 202 for the opportunity to explore and engage a variety of questions about the significance of place.

A panel of campus leaders will be ready to stir up discussion around these questions and many more with plenty of time reserved for attendees to chime in with their own ideas and questions.

Panelists:

  • Moderator: Sharon Ryan, PhD, professor, Department of Philosophy; director, WVU Humanities Center
  • Michael Allen, PhD, visiting assistant professor, WVU Department of History
