Whose Code Is It, Anyway? An Introduction to ChatGPT for Responsible Coding Online

This workshop is designed for students, researchers, and professionals new to programming or AI tools. Participants will learn how to use ChatGPT as a coding assistant for tasks like generating, debugging, and optimizing code while developing a critical understanding of data ownership and provenance. Through hands-on activities, participants will explore how to ask effective questions, evaluate AI-generated solutions, and responsibly integrate AI into programming workflows. No prior experience with coding or ChatGPT is required, but participants should have access to a stable internet connection and a computer for interactive exercises.
