WVU Tech/Beckley: Storytime and Fossils at the Tech Library

WVU Tech/Beckley: Storytime and Fossils at the Tech Library In-Person

Nick Gardner, library director at WVU Potomac State College and natural history researcher, will be presenting a storytime with two books, "Dinosaur Lady" and "Skippyjon Jones and the Big Bones", as well as leading a craft time where participants will be able to make their own dinosaur puppets! Mr. Gardner will also have examples of fossils from around West Virginia so you can see the prehistoric past of your own backyard! This includes ancient amphibians, strange sharks and squids, and more!

Mr. Gardner has been with WVU Libraries for a decade-- he is currently the director of the Mary F. Shipper Library at the WVU Potomac State College campus in Keyser, WV. When not busy with library matters, Mr. Gardner is a natural history researcher, with multiple peer-reviewed papers and has given posters and talks at major academic conferences (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Nicholas-Gardner-3). Mr. Gardner is currently researching fossils from two unique sites in West Virginia: a 390 Myr old tidal lagoon with lurking armored fishes and sea scorpions and a 305 Myr old estuary infested with strange sharks and squids.
