Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Katherine Johnson
Join WVU Libraries on September 29th at 3:30 pm in the Milano Room of the Downtown Library where we will celebrate the life and legacy of NASA mathematician and space pioneer, Katherine Johnson. The West Virginia & Regional History Center at WVU Libraries is pleased to announce the opening of the Katherine Goble Johnson Papers with this event to detail Katherine’s life and career. Featured speakers include Katherine's daughters, Joylette Goble Hylick and Katherine Goble Moore, with remarks by Wes Deadrick, Director of NASA’s Katherine Johnson IV&V Facility in Fairmont, West Virginia and WVU President E. Gordon Gee.
The archive on display will include family memorabilia, photographs, correspondence, and other materials while also highlighting her more recent accolades and acknowledgements recognizing Katherine’s important role in the history of America’s space exploration. Katherine’s autobiography, “My Remarkable Journey - A Memoir” will be available for signing. Refreshments provided.
