Teaching with Wikipedia Online

Many students use Wikipedia for research, but few understand how it really works. In spite of (and in some cases, because of) its shortcomings, Wikipedia provides instructors with an opportunity to teach students how to evaluate information for reliability and information sources for credibility. Moreover, Wikipedia enables students and teachers to work together to improve the quality of information on the platform. In this workshop, you will learn about techniques for using Wikipedia in the classroom, including how to develop assignments that allow students to write for a wide range of audiences by editing, contributing to, or authoring Wikipedia articles while conducting relevant research.
